VILLAGE MAGAZINE ARTICLE
April 2018
We have had a busy Winter season actively assisting residents within Flamstead and continue to currently support 5 residents in various practical ways although we have offered help to over 13 residents since Christmas.
We are also busy organising our '10th Anniversary’ Music Festival fundraiser on 23rd June 2018 at Flamstead School grounds. Hopefully, you have already seen our advertising for this event in the Parish Magazine March Edition, via email, posters, flyers and grapevine. It would be great for as many of you to come along to help us raise the necessary funds we need to continue supporting residents during times of ill health, surgery or bereavement. Tickets will go on sale on 1st April (Early bird price 1st April to 7th May) – so look out for all our advertising for details. Every home in Flamstead will also receive a flyer kindly created by Nicola Kevin (www.createdbywhite.com) and printed by Printforce.
Alongside this, we are creating a new website – www.thewishtreecharity.org and ticket sales for our event will be available via our new on line ordering facility from this website, which will be active by the 1st April. Our thanks go to local resident Alison Stewart for all her hard work over the last few months to get this up and running for us.
We have also been successful in recruiting a few volunteers to help support residents in situations where transport is needed and where this sits outside the remit of the Flamstead Care Group. We extend our thanks to those drivers who have helped us over recent months, who have specifically enabled one of our recipients to visit her husband in hospital most days of the week since January.
Here are two testimonials from recipients of the Charity:
“The Wish Tree Charity stepped in to help myself and family following my hospitalisation a few years ago. Till that point I didn’t know this amazing charity existed. They provided care for my disabled daughter, help at home and dog walking all of which I was
unable to do. Everyone was extremely professional, caring and supportive and nothing was too much trouble. As I have no family locally this help was paramount to our family coping during a very stressful time in our lives.”
“Wish Tree were tremendously supportive and provided invaluable assistance for our family when we were going through a difficult time”
