Dear Runner,
 

The countdown has begun!  We’re thrilled to have you join us for the Wish Tree Festive Fun Run in Flamstead on Sunday December 14th.

 
Here’s a quick checklist for you:

Arrival time: 11.00am
Warm up: 11.15am
Start time: 11.30am
Dress code: Festive gear or accessories (optional)
Don’t forget: Water bottle and lots of enthusiasm!
Location: The Pavilion, Flamstead Cricket Club, AL3 8DE
 
Route: The run is 5k and along the 'Flamstead triangle’ so 4 laps will be needed to complete the run.  You are responsible for counting your own laps!  When overtaking, please overtake on the right, and keep left to allow others to safely overtake you.  It is all on-road.

Parking: If coming by car, you can park either in the playing fields car park in front of the tennis court, or in a smaller car park along Friendless Lane (see map below). Alternatively, there is some local on-road parking.

Safety: Please be aware that there are no official road closures for this event as the route is on 3 quiet country lanes. However, there is a possibility that cars may be driving along the route.  To try to minimise any risk, we will have marshals at each road junction to request that drivers take an alternative route. Runners run at their own risk but do contact us should you have any concerns.  We will have first aiders on stand-by and our marshals will have walkie-talkies.   

For safety reasons whilst running on the roads, we suggest that you don’t wear headphones.  However, if you do want to wear them then only bone conducting headphones should be used to enable you to hear traffic and marshal instructions. You are welcome to wear high-vis tops or vests.

Cancellation: We are keeping our fingers crossed for dry weather and the run will only be postponed if conditions are icy or unsafe.  In the unlikely event that this should happen, you will be notified by email. Refunds will be available if you are unable to run in the re-scheduled event.

Most importantly, we hope you will have fun and join us for hot refreshments after the run in the Pavilion.  As part of your entry fee, each adult runner will have been allocated a raffle ticket to win a fabulous hamper in the draw that will take place in the Pavilion but there will also be an opportunity to buy more raffle tickets and other prizes should you want a greater chance of winning.  If you have registered more than one runner or as a family, a ticket will have been allocated to each adult runner using the name of the person who registered.  Remember that all money raised from the event is going to our wonderful local charity, The Wish Tree.  We’d like to say thank you for taking part in our run and for supporting the charity.
