CHARITY UPDATE - JANUARY 2025
From the new Chairperson
Change but no change....

January 6th, 2025

Whilst I have only been in the village for a very short time, it is very apparent how caring and friendly the village is with many people looking out for and helping fellow villagers.

The epitome of this must be the Wish Tree Charity which was founded in 2008 with the primary aim to support Flamstead residents facing illness, injury, surgery or bereavement. The Charity supports both individuals and families to try and gain a sense of normality during difficult circumstances.

The current Trustees and Committee members, Ali Moss, Rosie Hickey-Colman, Alex Morris, and Gillian Biggs have worked tirelessly for the village under the watchful eye of Tracy Wells who has been the Charity Chair since 2014.  After many years of commitment and dedication, Tracy has decided that she would like to step down from the charity and will be doing so during this January.

On behalf of the village, I would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to Tracy for the unstinting work she has done within the Charity,  I know there are many in the village who have witnessed the time and dedication she has committed to the Charity and in generally trying to make other people's lives just a little bit easier.

The Charities constitution dictates that there must be three officers and with the threat of the Charity not being able to continue, I am humbled to have been asked to take on the role of chair.  This I do with some trepidation; it will be an amazingly hard act to follow but I am delighted to be able to take on the responsibilities of the role and guide the Charity going forward.

We are always looking at new ways we can raise funds to help us support local people so if you have any suggestions then please feel free to contact us.  We are also keen to attract additional Trustees/committee members and would be delighted to hear from anyone who feels they have something to offer.  Our contact details can be found on the Website (www.thewishtreecharity.co.uk) along with news and updates on our up-and-coming events.  In particular look out for details of Henry Biggs who is running the London marathon on behalf of the charity and details of his Just Giving page where you can support him and ultimately support us.

As the title suggests, whilst there is to be change, there will be no change in what the Charity looks to achieve, so if you know of anyone in the village who might be able to benefit from a little extra support, then please contact us and we will do our best to help.

All it leaves me to do, is to thank Tracy once again for her amazing contribution to the village and for her help in making the handover as painless as possible, thank you.
