VILLAGE MAGAZINE ARTICLE

December 2018

We can’t quite believe that its’ been 4 months since our last update in the August edition following our Summer Music Festival and its now nearly time to wish you all seasonal tidings……….

It's been a busy summer for the Village with The Scarecrow festival, Book festival and the Village show – what a great village we live in! The Charity has been very blessed with donations over the last 5 months totalling a fantastic sum of £2,557.79 . A special ‘Thank you’ goes to The St Albans Steam Engine Society once again for choosing us as their designated Charity this summer and donating £306.79. Some of the other donations have kindly been given from families who have lost loved ones this year, as a way of thanking the Charity for their support for which we are very grateful.

The Village show “Tea Room” was a success again too and helped us raise £108.45 from cups of tea drunk and homemade delights eaten by you all so thank you. All monies raised or donated from any event continue to directly fund the help and support given to Flamstead residents.

We had our AGM in July and we are pleased to say that the Trustees have decided to continue in their current roles (see contact details below) with Mark Evans and Katharine Hill remaining as committee members. We were sorry to say farewell to Nikki Carter, who decided to step down as a committee member and thank her for all her help and support over the last 2 years. In October, We welcomed Sophie Lechner-King as our Charity rep at Flamstead school to enable us to effectively network with all aspects of village life.

We are currently in the process of streamlining our website, as it remains in its infancy since the Music Festival/Summer and aim to make it more user friendly, update with information about the Charity, fundraising events, event photos and more importantly give an opportunity to contact the Trustees directly.

As it currently stands, we have decided to have a year off from our Summer Music Festival next year but do plan to be back with an event in the Summer of 2020, to continue raising funds to support Flamstead residents during times of ill health, major surgery and bereavement. On behalf of the Charity, we would would like to thank you for all your support in 2018 and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year………
