CHARITY UPDATE APRIL 2021

April 17, 2021

Hello Villagers,

We hope this article finds you well and surviving lockdown...... hopefully you have managed to make the most of the beautiful countryside around us for your daily exercise.

Some of you may have participated in the ‘Flamathon’ during March and there is still time for you to take up the challenge during the Easter holidays, get fit and walk 26.2 miles to raise funds for 3 of Flamsteads’ charities (FOSL, Friends of Flamstead school and Wish Tree)  - please contact flamsteadevents@gmail.com for information.  Our thanks go to Tim Moss and Annabel Freer for organising this event.

We also have another exciting fundraiser initiated by one of Flamsteads’ residents and hope you will support and get behind this fun idea - see below:

From the 29th March, for two weeks, Flamstead photographer Emma Solomon is running a "Doorstep Photography Challenge" to raise funds for the Wish Tree Charity during the Easter holidays. Families (and pets)  are encouraged to dress up and have their photo taken to celebrate our lives during the pandemic and the Census of 2021. There will also be a competition for the best photo. It is £10 (minimum) to enter, all proceeds going to the Wish Tree.  For information, please visit www.thewishtreecharity.org for information/link or visit emmasolomonphotography.co.uk/wishtree for all the details and to book your slot.

We have missed organising our Summer Music festival fundraisers and do hope to put on some type of event in 2022. Any volunteers who would like to get on board to help with a fundraising event, please do get in touch - details below.....

As we are well aware, the COVID pandemic continues to affect individuals and families and we want to remind villagers that we are still here to help. We have managed to use COVID monies over recent months to support residents and our local school. We can help to pay for an essential bill, weekly shop, school uniform or anything similar - so please don’t struggle and get in touch via info@thewishtreecharity.org

We also provide our usual support to residents undergoing major surgery, ill health and/or bereavement, so please do continue to let us know if you know of anyone who may need our help and support.  All requests are dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Testimonials:

“Without your help, it would have been very difficult to have coped the days of my recovery with my 2 children. It was amazing help. Thank you very much”

“I just want to say what a wonderful charity it is and I know they have helped many people in the village. I really do not know where I would have been without the help I received.”

“I would like to thank The Wish Tree Charity for your most generous donation which is hugely appreciated. Like many other schools and businesses, we incurred a substantial impact on our budget directly related to COVID-19. The donation will help offset unexpected expenses so that we can use our planned budget  to support children’s learning. Your donation has helped to cover the costs of hand sanitiser stations, lidded bins, face masks and shields, cleaning equipment, web cams and the list goes on. Thank you once again for your generosity and support.”  (Flamstead school)

Thank you for your on going support.
